Luci - Fire Eater:
Are you here for the season?
-No, I'm just here for the Brits *British snowboard championships*.
I came from London for one week to entertain the troops.
Do you snowboard?
-Yeah, I do. Not as much as I wanted to this week because of the dodgy weather,
but yeah. That is the main reason I came, I don't get paid much for this gig
but I do get to snowboard.
Was it the Brits that organised
you coming here?
-Well, partly the Brits, partly the hotel, partly the resort. Somebody just
gives me a bunch of money at the end and I go Yeahhhhh! Yeah.
Are you gonna be entering next
year?
-Er, no. I don't get to board that often because I'm travelling with my show,
so this is like the winter holiday really.
What tricks can you do? -On the snowboard or on the stage?
Snowboard
-Oh, er I can fall over a lot on a snowboard, but I can usually get down a
mountain, I don't do tricks, I do stunts! BIG difference!
Have you got a lot of fans?
-Yeah
the Mayrhofen fan club. I wasn't really expecting that
I
get to travel all over with the show, can't really do the same thing in the
same place too many times, people might get bored with me, but I've been all
over Europe and Croatia and America, Japan.
Do you enjoy the job? -Yeah I love it
Do you like pain? -No.
So it doesn't hurt?
-Well, no, not if it all goes right, if it goes wrong it hurts a bit, I think
people who snowboard understand that. You don't snowboard because you like
pain but you do hurt yourself when you do it.
But you cut yourself a bit there
?
-I got carried away! The crowd was behind me and I just stopped being careful.
It is possible to do it without cutting myself, 99% of the time I don't. Just
got caught up in the moment.
Doesn't it fuck your guts up?
All that flame and shit?
-Yes. It's very bad for you and people shouldn't try it at home, especially
if you've got a low ceiling. I try not to do the fire too often, but it went
down so well here I ended up doing it every night. They seem to like the sparks
thing too
How do you like Mayrhofen?
-Oh, well it's like the fourth or fifth year I've been out here and, yeah,
it's all right. Normally come out, do a couple of gigs, go boarding and go
home again.
